Dubai never ceases to amaze with futuristic transport projects. This time to all visitors of the exhibition centerCity Walk Dubai has unveiled new pods (cars) to be used on the Hyperloop intonation transport network in the United Arab Emirates. The event was timed toUAE Innovation Month .
Hyperloop in the UAE. 140 km in 12 minutes
Recall that Hyperloop is a high-speed passenger transport project founded by Ilan Musk. The new mode of transport is somewhat reminiscent of the familiar subway. Hyperloop capsules will move on electromagnetic traction inside a huge pipe at a speed of 480 to 1220 km/h
The first branch of the Hyperloop in the UAE will connect Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Travel time between the emirates will take 12 minutes, during which the capsule will cover about 140 kilometers. At the same time, Hyperloop will be able to provide a passenger flow of up to 10,000 people per hour in both directions. The project is being developed by the Dubai Ministry of Transport (RTA: Roads and Transport Authority ) and the companyVirgin Hyperloop One , where RTA is an investor.
Presented capsules have a modern premium interior. Each passenger seat is equipped with displays and a multimedia system. The presentation was attended by the Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. He shows great interest in the development of Dubai’s transport infrastructure.
Also at the event, Virgin Hyperloop One presented a project of transport lines connecting the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Oman. But this is the next step in the development of Hyperloop in the Gulf countries.
